The intellectual property rights relating to the stories and artwork submitted as entries to the competition remain with the individual author submitting that entry.

Nevertheless, it is advisable that entrants ensure that their stories and artwork are properly copyrighted.

Stories and artwork submitted as entries to this competition must be unpublished originals and not subject to third party intellectual property rights. Furthermore, no claims for payment relating to the use of the stories or artwork in publications or for publicity or promotion purposes must be made.

By entering this competition, entrants shall grant ESA and its promotional partners, Maison d'Ailleurs, and the OURS Foundation, a non-exclusive free of charge licence to use, reproduce, display and publish the entrants' creation, artwork, story and entry for the purposes of publicizing the competition and promoting the outcome after the competition is concluded, for example in a book to be published of the best or most interesting stories, in magazines, on the competition Web site, or other publicity as necessary irrespective of the means used (such as but not limited to: World Wide Web presentation, provision of copies and/or samples, posters and other printed material) to fulfil such purpose. Authors will, of course, be given full credit and acknowledgment.

Submitted entries remain the property of ESA and its promotional partners and will not be returned to authors.
